SUMMARY:Sunrise Edina Business Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:AVOID FINANCIAL ERRORS IN DIVORCE SETTLEMENT\n\nSpeaker: Mark C. Hegstrom\, AIF CDFA\n\nCertified Divorce Financial Analyst\n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how to avoid financial errors in the divorce settlement. I find that for most of my clients\, the number one issue is maintaining positive cash flow in other words\, paying the bills on a monthly basis not only on the day after divorce\, but 5\, 10\, 15 years into the future. In order to meet cash flow needs\, there are three sources of money that may be available to you as a result of divorce: child support\, spousal support\, and marital property.\n\n\n\nWe will review property division and retirement accounts\, how equal amounts may not be equal at all when you consider tax effects. Some divorces do settle 50/50. However\, it can make a huge difference which 50 percent you get. In other words\, all assets are not created equal. We will use a case study of Ken and Kate to illustrate these points and talk about short term and long term effects of three different settlement offers. \n\nBio: \n\nMark C. Hegstrom\, AIF\, CDFA\n\nWaterfront Financial Group\n\nMark Hegstrom is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA). He has specialized skills and experience that enables him to analyze the long-term financial impact of divorce. He has met specific education\, experience\, and ethical requirements to earn the CDFA designation. Mark's goal is to help you to navigate through the divorce process and emerge financially independent on your feet.\n\nMark is a Managing Partner at Waterfront Financial Group in Golden Valley.
